Food Protection Program, National Registry of Food Safety Professionals


Food Manager Certification
Certification is required in Florida for Food Managers, employees of restaurants, grocery stores, and any other business in which food is served. Our certification program has been nationally recognized by the USDA, the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (Division of Restaurants and Hotels) and is is valid for five years, nationwide, upon the date of issuance.

We offer food safety and quality audits which include:

  • Procedures for product storage

    In order to meet the requirements and receive the Food Safety Manager Certification, you must successfully complete a state recognized Food Safety Manager Certification examination. It is a two hour examination consisting of 80 objective multiple choice questions that cover a range of food safety subjects. Successful completion is awarded with a score of at least 75%.

    How many employees should we schedule for on-site training?
    There is no limit to how many employees you can schedule for on-site training. However, the smallest group we recommend for on-site training is five people. If you have fewer employees you wish to train, but still would like information on pricing, please contact us.

    Who should get certified?
    Restaurants, Quick Serve Restaurants , Convenience Stores, Grocery Stores, Delicatessens, Public o Private Schools, Health Care, Long-Term Care Facilities, Correctional Facilities, Management Services Locations, Educational Institution Hospitality and Dietetic Programs, Daycare Centers, Hotels or any other food businesses in all of South Florida, Broward, Dade and Collier counties including Miami, Coral Gables, Doral, Hialeah, Miami Lakes and Key Biscayne.

    Our certifications
    We are fully credited and certified to provide the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals examination.

    Certification test languages

    An additional fee is requested for taking the test in languages other than English or Spanish.

    Food safety certification
    All food service managers in Florida who work in establishments licensed by the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (Division of Hotels and Restaurants) are required to be certified. Florida Statute 509.039 requires certification of all food service managers who are responsible for the storage, preparation, display, or serving of foods. All managers employed by a food service establishment must therefore have passed a certified manager\'s exam and have a certificate to attest for it.

    All food service managers in Florida who work in establishments licensed by the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (Division of Food Safety) are required to be certified. Section 5k-4.021 of the Florida Administrative Code, requires all food establishments (including mobile vendors) licensed by the department to have a certified manager (except food establishments or mobile vendors that sell, store or hold only pre-packaged, non-potentially hazardous foods that arrive at the food establishment in a pre-packaged state and that are not opened or otherwise further processed by the food establishment; or food establishments that only process seafood and that are in full compliance with the mandatory HACCP provisions in rule 5k-4.002(1)(a) of the Florida Administrative Code). Section 500.12(6) of the Florida Statutes also requires the Department to adopt rules for the training and certification of managers of food establishments.
